Recent research suggests that beets may be effective in fighting against Alzheimer’s disease by decreasing the damaging oxidation of neurons caused by beta-amyloid, a protein associated with Alzheimer’s.

Beets have been shown to fight inflammation, lower blood pressure, aid in detoxification, lower the risk for heart failure and stroke, and improve brain neuroplasticity due to their high nitrate content.

The oxidation was reduced by up to 90% when betanin from beets was added to the mix. Turmeric supplementation has also been shown to improve memory and focus in seniors suffering from mild memory lapses and to reduce the buildup of amyloid and tau deposits associated with Alzheimer’s.

It is important to note that diet plays a significant role in the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. High-sugar diets that promote insulin resistance have been linked to an 89% increase in the risk of dementia, while high-fat diets lower the risk by 44%. Other lifestyle factors that can help prevent Alzheimer’s include exercise, intermittent fasting, optimizing vitamin D and magnesium levels, and minimizing exposure to EMFs.

The Bottom Line:

Beets and turmeric may help protect against Alzheimer’s disease by reducing oxidation and improving brain health. A healthy lifestyle that includes a balanced diet, regular exercise, and other key factors can also play a significant role in preventing and treating Alzheimer’s.
